About Cypress California
Cypress is a city in Orange County in the southern part of California. Before the arrival of Europeans, the area was home to the Tongva people. The land then belonged to Spain until Mexican independence in 1821. Afterward, Mexico lost the land of the US in the Mexican-American war. Cypress was nicknamed “Waterville” due to there being numerous artesian wells in the location. IN 1956 it was incorporated as Dairy City. After the second world war, the land was too valuable to continue being dairyland and by the 1970s there were no remaining dairies. In 1957 residents changed the name of the city from Dairy City to Cypress.
