About Balboa Peninsula California
Balboa Peninsula also known as just Balboa to residents is a seaside neighborhood in Newport Beach, Orange County CA. Balboa was named after Vasco Núñez de Balboa a Spanish explorer, governor, and conquistador. Balboa is mostly a residential area with many harborfront homes although there are some commercial areas as well. IN 1888 the McFadden family moved their shipping business to the ocean front where it was connected to the Santa Ana rail. The McFaddens originally built a Warf at the same location where Newport Pier is present day. Some of the famous areas in Balboa are Newport Pier, Balboa Fun Zone, Balboa Pavilion, and the Lovell Beach House.
